Whirlpool #LSR5233AWO

Washer stops working after agitation, the point of draining the wash water. The timer doesn't continue to progress through the later cycles at that point. Manually moving the dial to Rinse invokes water being added, but the washer won't again drain or spin. Washer full of water obviously.... any help greatly appreciated.

Would bet someome dropped the lid and broke the lid switch. Very inexpensive repair....Click on the blue link to see this part...........

Can you advise how to remove the washer top so I can get at the lid switch? It looks like the top has screws attaching it to the 1-piece metal side & front.
