Have a Kitchenaid SXS refrigerator in which ice and water dispensers are not working, though the panel has power since lights over options still work. How do I access the unit to be able to examine the relays and components which control the dispensing of both water and ice?

start by making sure you have water supplied to the back of the fridge with adequate pressure

Water supply is fine, the ice maker is still operating properly. Indeed, this problem only started in last few weeks.

Not a valid Model number, see if  the 2S could possibly be 25 instead.

My error, the correct model number is KSBS25FJBL01. Any assistance on accessing the inner workings of the water and ice dispensers would be greatly appreciated.:?

Please note: The water filter was replaced in April, 2005. The light for the filter is red (indicating replacement is needed). I tried replacing with another new filter, but the light remains red and no water comes from dispenser.
Might this symptom be related to my inability to get water from the dispenser? Any and all suggestions welcome.

Hummmm, you might have a defective water valve on the water to the door side, the water line could be froze up or a defective switch in the disp area.  There are steps you have to take to re-set the filter light, your users maual will tell you what these are for your model.  With the ice disp. what does it do.  Is it dead?  Does it run with no ice getting pushed forward??

There is no movement of the "screw" mechanism in the ice chest when the lever is pushed. I thought this might be due to an electrical malfunction in some relay. Are any such relays shared by both the ice and water dispensers? Also, my service manual does not go into sufficient detail about these problems - they merely tell you to call a service repairman.

If no noise comes from the ice bin you either have a bad auger motor, broken wiring to the motor or the switch that feeds this motor is defective, will need to access each to see where the problem is. The no water problem will need you to test the fill valve to the water disp to see if it has gone bad on that side first. This could also be the microswitch that feeds the valve or the line is frozen.  Do not know how to turn that red light off without the users manual instructions.  Be sure the filter is in the holder properly also.

Check the wires where the go thru the door hinge, they break from the door opening and closing...if you cannot repair the wires, if they are broken, probably have to replace the whole door if it is a FIP door..
