I used your service to figure out WHAT was wrong with my wonderful old maytag washer that wouln't empty the water from the tub. Now that i know that it's the belt that drives the pump, IS IT HARD TO REPLACE? I know it's UNDER the machine..do you have any photos/diagrams that would aid me in replacing the belt to the pump? Thank you! Sue

THANKS for the diagrams but they really don't give much info re: how the belt goes on. I did find a pic under Appliantology@groups.msn.com that was a bit more definitive.. Thanks for trying Sue ps. of course, if once i get the belt and if it's not "cooperating" in attaching itself, i may be back for more assistance!!

Ok..I replaced Both belts but it still doesn't drain..i saw in the articles "that even if the drain pump turns the internal propellers may be broken". I removed the large diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the outer tub and did not find any obstruction. However an obstruction was removed from the drain pump.(part of the filiing from my dog's bed). With the front cover off and the large rubber hose disconnected from the outer tub, i put the machine on spin. The water in the drain pump did NOT spin/drain out to the EXITING rubber hose. So I'm assuming that the drain pump IS broken. Does that make sense to you??? Sue
