I'm having a problem with my GE Gas Range. Model: JGBP35WEA9WW The last few days, every time I've tried to operate my oven, to the best of my knowledge, the burner has not lit. I followed the instructions on your Troubleshooting Gas Ovens page - http://fixitnow.com/2004/09/appliance-repair-revelation.htm. Naturally enough, when I had the door off and the bottom out, the gas did ignite - and every time I tested it. It would take about 45 seconds to ignite, though. Using the amp meter, I registered a max of 3.11 amps to the ignitor, and it was usually much closer to 3.00.  On your note on the Hot Surface Ignitors graphic, you mention that a powder blue Norton (flat ignitor) will have an amp draw of 2.5 to 3.0 amps. I couldn't discern any powder blue, but I'm kind of color blind. In addition to the low amp draw, my symptoms match your description pretty precisely. The cook times have always seemed excessively long. It seems pretty cut and dried, but I would love a second opinion before I buy the part. Thanks in advance. See what the gas valve is rated for, the amps and voltage will be on the sticker on the side of the valve itself..

On the gas valve, I have the following: G-I.P .5 P.S.I. 3.03/3.3 V.A.C. 3.3/3.6 AMP . 60 HZ I started it up again and measured 3.04 amps. And I figured out why my picture was so blurry the first time - stupid panoramic setting.  I love the visual aids.

LOVE THE GRAPHICS!!! Pegi led you to the water and even held your head under a little. G-I.P .5 P.S.I. 3.03/3.3 V.A.C. Voltage need to the gas valve. (if you do not have an amp meter) 3.3/3.6 AMP . Amp range needed to open valve. As long as voltage was within specs, approx. 112VAC or higher, your igniter is weak. Click the link above and get one on the way. Great job, proved it without a doubt! 120.3 Volts, so I guess that's it. I like the pictures, primarily because, left to my own devices, I can misinterpret a Stop Sign. Thanks for your help.
