Replaced belt on this washer after squeaking noises started. Also replaced motor isolators. The new belt will not stay on the main drum wheel. It rolls off to the inside every time. Please help!!!!!! :headbang:

Something's cattywampus: either the pulley is wallowed out or the motor is not mounted right. Post a nice big picture showing the motor and drum pulley with the belt attached.

Your second pic revealed all (I deleted the others, not needed) -- you have a bad drum bearing. Big job.

What indicated this?

Is there a line by line set of instructions to perform the repair. Basically, I bought this washer from a guy for $43 on Ebay. He couldn't fix it. I'm very handy and if it's a ridiculously hard deal I will not do it but for the $43 I've only put into it I will go as far as necessary at this point to get it working.

Please let me know what parts and anything else you can help with.

The brown splatter emanating from the drum bearing and splashed on the pump and surrounding area was a dead giveaway. I don't have a step by step, but this post at my blog gives a peek at what you're in for.

Which of the following do I need?

These are the parts that I find. Are there more or do I even need all of this.

Would it be better and easier to just get the outer tub assembly with the new bearing already installed?

After belt removed and pulley's retaining bolt out. Just pull budrow. You may have to put some ass behind it or possibly pry back and forth. Good Luck! Not my favorite repair by any means.

OK I used a bigger hammer and wallah she came off. Nasty insides. Bearings are shot to hell. Looks like the man was right. Pretty nasty.

Tub change not difficult. Take your time and be patient. I've found that if you take off the balancing weights (top & bottom), tub to pump hose, outer tub cover (tub front) and drop it from the springs, you can easily muscle it outside to swap the parts from old to new. Remember to take loose the pressure switch hose at the pressure switch inside the console and any wiring first. You may find that the spinner support is gouged as well if the bearings are 'slap tore up'. I personally replace it every time I change an outer tub due to bearing failure.

Prior to ordering in the outer tub, you might want to make sure you can get the inner basket spinner support out. The inner basket attaches to a 3 armed spinner support. It is the male surface to your bearing. It can become pitted and or worn to the point of needing replacement as well. You might want to look at it first before ordering in just the outer tub.

I'm sorry. I was so into working on it that I didn't even think about that. As far as war stories go it really wasn't that bad. I can show some pics of what bad bearings look like.

See below. The bearings were not hurt by me during removal. This is what they looked like when I accessed the area. Pretty bad!!!!

stumpowitz had a great idea. As he instructed, except for the bottom wieght assembly, I pulled the top weight assembly and then disconnected all hoses and such from the washer and then pulled the tub out. I then put the two tubs next to each other to make sure wiring and all was the same. All in all a relatively easy job.

Thanks again to all!!

I will be perusing the sight to offer any advice I can. Because now I am dangerous. I have some knowledge. :yikes:

Good Job! Many a tech will balk at a Neptune tub change, but you got in there and got it done. Wish me luck as I am performing the same surgery in the morning.

Oh and guess what, after completion I found a leak on the bottom of the tub. It is an actual crack. I call maytag, where I got the new tub, and was ready for a major yelling match. Without skipping a beat the girl says we will send you another free 'o' charge. That has been over 4 hours ago and I am still in shock.

Do you think I can get some good epoxy and patch the leak?

I believe I could sale a brand new in the box tub for a lot less than a new one from the manufacturer.

Everybody please chime in and let me know if the epoxy is a bad idea.
