Put it in diaognostic mode and the hot water turns off ond on like it should. The cold only turns on and won't shut off untill I turn the facet off.Do I need the cold water valve or the control board?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Cold valve is operated proportionally by 24 VDC. Does the water valve pass water with the machine off? Put it back in diagnostics again, this time with your voltmeter set to DC volts and across the leads of the cold water valve. Now activate the cold water valve, and look for voltage. All it means is the the voltage at the water valve is an analog signal. The Hot water vale gets a digital signal
|

Yes, The cold water keeps coming even with the machine off and unpluged.

Sounds like the valve has stuck open and would need to be replaced.

Okay, it works fine on the low and med. water settings, but not on high or auto.

Ok , what appliance is this, a washer, dishdrawer or what, you did not say what it is or post a model number ...but normally if a water valve will not shut off if a machine is turned off and unblugged the water valve is stuck open, but would not matter which level is selected.

Thanks, however I am not famuliar with F&P. Having said that, any fill valve will shut off when the selected water level is reached and the fill level switch gives power to the motor. If a washer or whatever keeps filling with water when it is turned off and/or unplugged, this usually means the fill valve has stuck open. But would not matter which level it was set at. If the water turns off when the machine is turned off and/or unplugged this would indicate an electrical problem inside the unit. Either the fill level switch has failed or the pressure hose to the system has come loose or has a hole in it or the air dome is clogged, but the water would stop when the machine was turned off or unplugged. Sounds like you need to look at the fill valve sticking open IF the only way to stop the water is to turn the faucet off.

Replace the cold valve, this is the only way to fix the problem.I KNOW! The problem is either a distortion in the valve body or crap inside the valve causing it to jam until the water pressure has been cutoff, we get alot of this in New Zealand.
