No idea, have not seen any and just heard about them yesterday....started doing some research today....seems this does not nutate like the Calypso so do not know how it washes the clothes except seems it moves the water thru the clothes instead of the clothes thru the water....looked at the tech sheet for these awhile ago....will need some more info but seems it has a 4.5 cu ft basket making it the largest availavble for domestic use...will need more data... |

Copied and pasted from a Tech only Froum. Very similar in design to the F&P. One thing to be aware of, the holes in the basket are EXTREMELY SHARP on the outside of the basket, just like a cheese grater. For anyone that hasnt worked on a F&P, just like the F&P, there is no belt/coupling, trans, brake or clutch. Just a 38 pole DC motor thats attached to an agitator or an impeller. As the washer fills, it raises the tub to engage the agitation and as it pumps out, it lowers on to splines to engage the spin. A little tip that the trainer passed along, the motor housing, removed with a 1/4 in hex, if you continue to turn the screw, the cover backs out on its own, otherwise, youll fight the magnets trying to get the cover off. And the RPS(rotational position sensor), holding tabs breaks really easy, but it will still be heald in place by the cover so..no big deal if you break one , or both. Also the pressure switch/monitor is intergrated onto the control board. The dryer, made by Whirlpool, has an optional variable speed blower motor. They showed a video of the dryer in operation with a clear vent tube with a ball in it, that went straight up for like 15 ft, they closed an inline damper, to simulate a vent 95% restricted the ball dropped to the bottom and the blower revved up and the ball went right back to the top, kinda cool. The heating element/housing is slightly different, in that the element doesnt just slide out, like you have to take the can apart to change it. Otherwise for the most part, its the same, as any other kenpool DOTT dryer. |

Well, the washer is a F&P so do not know if that is overseas or if they have a factory here or not, the dryer is a souped up Whirlpool elite so would be at a WP plant here in the US. One could hope anyway... |

You realize it is only the drive system made by Fisher Paykel. Whirlpool make the actual washer. I sell them, and had extensive training from Whirlpool. The feedback on them is excellent, in fact I am buying my set tomorrow. |

Yea, sort of tells people to wait awhile before buying first production, wait a year or so till they find the bugs, fix them in the later runs and get the service bulletins out there...but for your comfort the dryers are just souped up Whirlool DOTT dryers, but more electronics.... |

Well, overall I am pretty happy. The capacity is just ridiculous, in both the washer and the dryer. Comforters are no problem. Matter of fact I just took all the covers for the couch cushions off and put them through the ringer. The cycle adjustments make pretty much anything washable. |

Yea, they look nice, if I did not have a Duet would get the Whirlpool version of the Oasis, the Cabrio, that way would not have to go thru Sears for warranty, just call any WP auth servicer, I think that washer looks way too cool...beautiful spin basket... |

Whirlpool bought the rights from F&P to use the motor designs in the Oasis & Cabrio according the our WPL field service rep. They do seem to be great machines. I printed off the manual on the Cabrio from WPL's Tech site. I like these better than the Calypso's myself. |

i did my service school on this machine back in march it looks very simple to work with (dont have F/p in my area) but one thing i know whats going to happen is people that buy the washer with the window will be calling service companys and saying the washer is doing nothing i bet there will be lots of calls on this |

Calypso = Big steaming pile of monkey dung I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon just yet, lets see what happens once the general public gets a crack at them. I remember when I got the original training on the Calypso, I though it would be a great machine. Man was I wrong there. There is the possibility that it will be a real good machine, but only time will tell. You don't want to be in the first year of production. They are basically doing their research and developement in your house at your expense. Let's hope for the best. Nick |

I just had the new Oasis washer and dryer (dual blower model) delivered to my house yesterday. The dryer showed error F44 right after the first load. Today I dried another load and saw the same error. I didn't buy the extended warranty and am having second thoughts. This is rediculous that the manual says to call tech support if you get any errors and they have no idea what the error codes mean. |

Since this is a Sears item the only place to get the users manual is to call Sears....call where you bought it and they will send you a copy no charge.... |

After sufferring with a Calypso since Nov. 2001 we finnally got a Sears repairman to "talk" to his superiors and admit that they were putting too much money in to keeping our little pile of doo running. (I don't know how many times they have been out, but I'm on a first name basis with several of the repair techs now, they really are a great group of guys) Not to mention all the clothes that it ruined with the infamous "black streaks" Well to make a long story short (I know.....Too late) after our latest service tech. visit we now have a $1000.00 in store credit at our local Sears store to use toward a new washer because it was going to cost as much or more to repair it again than just giving us this credit. Please, please, please help us not make the same mistake we made with the Calypso (that being newer, better, faster, blah- blah-blah) Is the Oasis (hovering right around the $1000.00 dollar credit line I have) worth it? |

Well I have only had mine 3 days, but this is what I have to say about it. Looks very sleek, very very quiet, washes one heck of a big load of laundry (the sales person talked me into the Oasis King Size dryer $150 less, but I am going to return it because I think the big Oasis washer loads will wear the motor out faster than the Oasis Canyon Dryer which has 2 motors), I really like having the window on the top of the washer door...it helps me determine at this stage of ownership if the clothes are tumbling around in the water..getting clean. After watching a few loads of clothes they all got turned through the water fine, BUT larger items like sleeping bags, comforters, and inside door mats and carpets in front of the sink etc did not really get submerged in the water during the 50 minute cycle.....I guess the water that flows from around the drum ridge gets the top area wet, but how clean is the question compared to the front loaders. Now I have had a few unbalanced error codes on big loads, but somebody said the bulky setting was only for items which do not retain much water (Hmmm I will have to look into this when I finally get my owners/users manual) The problem with the unbalanced error is that the washer then re-fills the tub and agitates it for another 10 minutes to try and get it balanced on its own...if it failes it calls you to take stuff out and readjust the items...after that it fills up AGAIN (so much for water efficiency at this point) agitates and tries to spin again....at this point mine got to spinning just fine.....and at over 1000rpm the clothes come out almost dry. The display panel is well thought out with an easy to use dial and great wash settings. Not to take you away from this great forum, but also try eopinions.com as they have a bunch of reviews from Oasis owners that may be helpfull. Last I checked the Sears web site also had one customer reveiw. Hope this helps.....So even though after 5 loads the first day I wanted to take it back.....now after 15 loads I understand how it works and will keep it AND recommend it. |

If you have a 1000 credit and still alot of ifs on the oasis(im sure its a fine machine but still needs to get the kinks out) i would go with the Whirlpool/Kenmore Duet front load machine very little trouble with these units |

Too soon to tell on the Oasis or the Cabrio, the Whirlpool version of the Oasis...they look simple, not many moving parts....I have a Duet and love it, uses hardly any water....guess you will need to decide if you want the larger tub using more water or a front load that uses hardly any... |

Well we went with the Oasis..........not just for the large capacity. My wife was really not ready to spend anymore money with Sears after our Calypso experience. So we stuck to our $1,000.00 credit line and the Oasis hit it right on the nose (after some adjusting by the salesman) So far so good.....really, really quiet. After having a Calypso this machine sure seems thirsty, but water usage really isn't as bad as some. I'll keep you updated. |

Well more good news from the Oasis........ Dark colored are lint free (this is a new experience for us after several years of Calypso ownership) The spin cycle is so fats the clothes come out of the machine almost dry......OK not quite, but the drying time is actually cut down several minutes when using the dryness sensor. No regrets so far.................... |

Well 2 weeks now with the Oasis has me wondering if I should keep it. The problem is EVERY time I load it to capacity, it gives me a UL error code because the load is unbalanced...then it fills with water...agitates...tries to spin again and the UL code appears and it beeps.....time for me to manually rebalance and it tries again until it is able to spin...wasting a bunch of water along the way. Why have a washer capable of such large loads if it can't spin them. I even placed each item in neatly in a cirle around the drum this time to try and balance it from the start. Willl I just be trading this issue for another if I take it back and get the Kenmore front loader H3 or H4?? I have 90 days to return it..no questions asked. |

Yes, here I go, both geeking out and completely off topic .... Well, if this machine turns out to have interesting problems, the Fisher & Paykel motor has been discovered to be useful in a few other applications: http://www.users.bigpond.com/solarbbq/bikeexp/bexp.htm Or as a generator: http://www.sustainability.ofm.uwa.edu.au/welcome/urban_sustainability/wind_turbine__home_made I'm kinda wondering where I could get my hands on a couple of old (and hopefully inexpensive) Calypso motors... they look like they'd make good robot drive motors and/or generators if suitably rewired! Someday, the geek shall inherit the Earth ...... |

I've only recieved the uL code once so far and it was a load of swimming pool towels after a large pool party and to be honest I probably overloaded the machine. Good luck with yours Wallah. Keep us posted. Still all goes well here with our Oasis. |

Another update on our Oasis. Great machine, no regrets. I don't know who was more ignorant the guy who decided to make the lid glass or the machine owner (me)  who actually watched a load of clothes go through the cycles. |

Error code F40 Fisasco Well, we've had our Oasis Elites for almost 6 months, went thru the period of.."Is it washing ???" "How does it wash ??" "It is even running ???" "Wow !!! those things are dry after the spin cycle !". Then last week BOOM !!! error code F40. user manual sez call for Service (period). I made some attempts to alleviate the problem (unplug, rearrange the load, tried different cycles) no luck. Called Sears to ask some questions, talking to a Orangatan (sic) would have yield more info & would have had a much better attitude. Bottom line, after they missed the first appointment (3 days) & they were late on the second 2 days later (8-12PM window) by 2 hours, the service tech observes the F40 & sez: "I gota order a part, that will take 3 days". <insert sound of small atomic blast> Wife flipped out. told the tech about giving up almost 2 days of work just for him to proclaim a part has to be ordered when his service order stated an F40 was occurring. That will be almost 2 weeks without a washer, since Nov 11 is best for us. (Gotta work during the week). Otherwise both the W & D provide excellent results. I would recommend them to large families, but the Service side is kinda sucky. |
