Hello, I have a Whirlpool, model GHW9200LW0. The door latch has broken. It is the part that is on the washer itself, not the door. In other words the door latch on the door is fine. Its where the door prong would go into the latch on the washer. The outer plastic part that would grip and hold broke. So the door cannot stay closed. Do I need to replace the whole bracket, or just part of it. I think this is the part, http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=1094190 Anyone know how to get the top front panel off the washer. I have the bottom part already off. Yes, if any part of that assembly breaks, you have to replace the whole thing. I just did my first one about 3 weeks ago. Did it without taking the front off, (I'm a smaller guy and have small arms, if you have big arms, good luck). Don't know what the job aid says about this, Pegi or Samurai, do you remove the front panel when you do a door switch/latch job or do you just work your arms up in there from the bottom access panel?

We have not done a door latch yet, however most anything my tech does to these he has to take it apart since he is about 6"5' and is quite a hefty guy, I cannot imagine him getting in there without taking it apart. Now slender Samurai might be able to wiggle in there and use his sword .

I need to do the same repair on a Kenmore 11042936200. Washed honorable mattress pad and it blew the latch  ((Part is $50--should honorable husband try this?? with me supervising, of course!!!

The wires are in a housing and it is very securely attached to the washer Just ordered the part and found a guy on Craig's list who's reasonable--thanks
