There's a solenoid inside the freezer, right behind the cube bin. You know that little metal rod that sticks out the back of the bin? The solenoid moves that up and down depending on whether cube or crush is selected. It's pretty much the same rig on all brands that have this feature. If this solenoid is burned out (reads open on an ohms test) then that's the problem; replace it: http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=638710
