Wire and spring go around the outside of the gasket, the front most part toward you, the spring needs to be spread wide to get it on there is a special tool for that but you can do it without it, when it installed right it amost disappears from view, the spring is always at the bottom, begin by just laying the wire at the top of the seal on the outer front top and lay it down on the sides, thats when you will need to spread the sring open to get it around, hope this might help, if your by a Lowes or Home Depot just look at another model, look at the bottom front and you might be able to see the spring, the wire amost seems unoticable when its installed........John
