I have a Hotpoint Heavy Duty Extra Large Capacity 6 Cycle washer. The model number is VBXR1060V1WW. We have the problem of our washer has stopped agitating. After doing research on the internet we have determined that we are pretty sure it's the agitator bell that needs to be replaced. So we now have the problem of we can't figure out exactly how to get the agitator off!!! We have tried to pry it off with a screwdriver, and even tried to yank it up with a rope wrapped around the fins but it's not working!

Hello, my yanking friend. Have you removed the agitator screw (item 301)?

Please excuse Mr. Moostafa, clearly his yak's milk has fermented in the Afghani climate. The agitator is a push-fit onto the dome, the bolt only holds the dome to the transmission shaft. Get a belt or rope under the whole agitator, rather than the "fins". Persist and you'll get there.

The fermented milk of yak is a daily staple in our diet and, fortunately, is as mind-altering as yogurt. The poppies, on the other hand, are an excellent doorway to another world and, I confess, I had indulged in a particularly potent batch of poppy resin when I posted my initial reply. It was a long, strange trip; however, I am feeling better now. My apologies for the confusion.
