First of all let me say Thank God for the Appliance Guru!

The ice depenser on this model won't depense crushed ice. The ice cube button works fine. When I push the button for crushed Ice, the light for crucshed Ice comes on and when I push in on the depenser lever nothing happens.

I have taken off the front trim along with the drain plate and that's as far as I have gotten. I don't see how to get to guts on the inside. I was wonder if you could offer any constructive advice on how to deal with this.

Yours truly,

Tech in training on Kenmore Ice depensers.

Here's your wiring diagram:

The dispenser motor runs on 120vDC (not AC) and the polarity switches based on crush/cube selection. Refer to Note 3 in the wiring diagram. You need to see if 1) you're getting 120vDC that 2) switches based on crush/cube selection. If you are, then the motor itself is bad. If not, then the inverter board is the likely culprit.
