I searched the forums and the great google and hope I have not missed a post. I have also consulted Silenus and even Dionysus repeatedly and frequently and they have not provided a solution to my problem in the deepest of meditations. I need to replace part # 25 from this page ![]() and the last time I worked on a washing machine you just grabbed the front of the lid and lifted sharply and it would hinge open. I'm guessing I have to unscrew part # 8 to open the lid but in the interest of not breaking stuff is there anything else that needs to be undone before lifting the lid? Does it just pop up like in the old days or are there screws/clips/etc. that need to be removed to lift the lid?

Yes you need to first remove the trim around the dispenser (4screws) the the front "goal post assembly" by removing the screws in the door hinges as well as the 2 on the opposite side, the door and hinges can now be worked of by wiggling the door up and down a bit - the goalpost sides get twisted a bit outwards. There is a screw on each side under the goalpost that hold retainers that are threaded into the top panel - then it can be hinged back

Thank you kdog, I got it open per your guidance. I now have another problem, the part I have which matches the picture in the parts manual is not like the parts in my washer. Do I have a bastard machine?![]()

No - the valve you require is for a different series of machine (series is determined by the first 2 digits in serialnumber)
