I've got something weird going on with my washer. I ran a load the other day, went to move it to the dryer and it was full of water. Spun the dial a few times, but it wouldn't pump out or spin, no noise, no power to motor. So I went to work...

1. Lid switch works fine. Tested with ohm meter

2. Water level switch works fine. Tested with ohm meter

3. Will fill and agitate

I moved the hose to the floor drain and drained it. Played around with spinning the dial and found on Permanent Press setting, it will spin and drain... but only some times. So...

4. Motor works, pump works and is not blocked.

Spinning the dial, some times it will go into pump out and spin, some times it will not, but only on the Permanent Press setting setting, not the Cotton/Sturdy setting. However, only if I'm manual spinning the dial, not on it's own.

I'm guessing that it is the Timer/Dial Switch that may be worn out/broken. However, do the capacitors for the motor ever go bad?

Thanks for your help and hopefully saving me $400-1000.

My $.02 is the timer . Capacitor is O.K. if it starts on wash cycles. Only changed 1 in 24 yrs.

I can only find the timer motor here:

My timer motor works and advances fine. I think I need the rest of the timer dial part that the wiring harness hooks up to and has switching mechanism. Like this:

Any way to get that with out the timer motor and save $50-80?

I got my new timer in yesterday.

I pulled the old one out and took it apart. One of the contact relays on the timing wheel must of taken an electric surge. The relay was charred, the plastic timer wheel was melted in spots, and the copper contact was now white and corroded. It didn't conduct when tested with an ohm meter.

The new timer is working perfectly.
