I have a very old Kenmore gas range. The range has three igniters, one for the left two burners, one for the right two burners, and one for the griddle. Turning any of the knobs to "lite" sparks all of the igniters (when the stove is working correctly).

Only one of the ignitors lights, but the problem seems to be in the spark module. The spark module has six total wires, including three that lead to the three igniters. By switching these three wires I have determined that all three igniters work. But like I said, only one can work at a time! Currently I have chosen to allow the left two burners to ignite.

I cannot find an exact replacement part for the spark module. I would like suggestions for a suitable replacement, including brand name and model number, preferably with instructions if it is very different from mine. Or, if the spark module is not the problem I'd like to know that as well!

The existing spark module is a Harper Wyman Kool-Lite 6509 120 V AC, 60 Hz, 004 Amp. There are six prongs on the module to which wires are attached:
1) one is labeled "L" and "1" with a 1/4" (approx) prong to which a black wire is attached.
2) one is labeled "N" and "3" with a 1/4" (approx) prong to which a yellow wire is attached.
3) one is labeled "9" with a 1/8" (approx) prong to which a yellow wire is attached. I think this might be a ground wire.
4-6) Three are labeled "6, 7 & 8" with a 1/8" (approx) prong to which reddish wires are attached and lead to the three igniters.
(Note: there are spaces labeled "2", "4" and "5" but there are no prongs coming out of the plastic spark module.)

I have attached 4 pictures to help describe the problem. In one of the spark module pictures I have unplugged two of the wires to give an idea of how wide the prongs are that they attach to.

Great pictures, but one question.
Are all of the "pilot holes" clean and clear of carbon buildup?

Is the MODEL NUMBER still readable on this range?

Looks like a Hardwick built range.

I've serviced a few dozen of these back in the 80s. It has been awhile since I've seen one.

For something like this---trying to get a SPARK MODULE---it's best to call an appliance parts distributor such as MARCONE.

its a Kenmore 119.7497810

The igniters all fire up, but only one can work at a time. Only one of the outputs on the spark module is working, but I can swap the wires leading to the igniters and have made sure they all work.

I have found a model number for the replacement spark module - it is 6542S0001 and made by Whirlpool I believe. I found one for $46 + shipping which is about the maximum I was willing to spend.

Hopefully, I'll be able to report a completed fix in a few days when I get the part.

(4) top burners and no "Oven" (re-ignition) burner

He needs a 2+1

(2) wires for the top Burners and (1) re-ignition type for the top Griddle
because it has a "hidden" Burner

The 6542S0001 should work, but may need some extra/different input connections.

Your Yellow wire may be the input for the Griddle.

No RegUS, he does need the 4+0.

This unit has 3 surface spark ignitors, one for left side, one for right side and one for the griddle burner. The unused 4th spark electrode connection is connected directly to ground on the original module.

A re-ignition module wouldn't work because the spark switch is only ON in one position, (LITE), not thru the complete off-hi-lo settings of the control knob and all five spark switches terminate to the same line/power supply to spark module. For the re-ignition to work the griddle switch would have to be removed from the other 4 spark switch circuits and have its own input to the spark module.

The ignitor module that RobbyRig linked to should be a correct replacement. The line and neutral connections are 1/4" male terminals, (same as originals), and the 4 spark terminals are 3/16" male terminals, (you would have to cut off the 1/8" terminals on the current wiring and replace with the four supplied 3/16" female connectors).

The new spark module did the trick. I connected three of the outputs to the three igniters and connected the 4th to the ground wire. All the burners fire up just fine. The new spark module even fit the old one's screw holes.

The only problem is that the old metal cover no longer fits - the new spark module is a bit thicker than the old.

How important is this cover? I just left it off.
