The downdraft unit has started making lots of "metallic" noises when it runs. I guess I need to get in there and oil the thing, but looking for some advice on what to oil and with what (basic WD-40? or some kind of magic appliance oil?). Muchas Gracias and Cerveza Plenty! ..Tommaso

It could also be the vent flapper making noise. Perhaps if it's the one on the outside of the house that's making noise, perhaps you can replace it with a plastic vent hood and flapper.

Well, the noise of which I was complaining has stopped.... The bad news is that the entire thing has stopped, and doesn't work..... So, I'm guessing its something serious like the motor shaft/bearing is completely shot. When I turn it on, the thing raises and I hear humming but nothing else. So, I guess I will take apart the motor housing on the outside of the house and then will I be able to easily tell what needs replacing? Thanks
