Esteemed Masters, We have a used Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer WFW8300SW00 that appears to be working fine, but from which now emanates these cheerful yet ominous sounding series of three beeps on an intermittent and irregular basis. These don't appear to be cycle dependent. I've been so bold as to check and clean the already clean screens on the the inlet fittings. Should I evacuate the family and pets prior to starting a wash cycle? Stand by the machine (at a safe distance) with a dry chemical fire extinguisher at the ready? Open a beer, put my right hand under the waist of my usually trashy jeans, and make reassuring noises at the wife? What? Hope to hear from you all. Respectfully, Jon Smythe Hope to

Hello, my ominous-sounding friend. Have you tried unplugging the machine from the outlet for a period of time and plugging it back in? The next step would be to attempt to enter diagnostic mode to see if that clears the beeping: • Close the door. • Push POWER. • Select the CLEAN WASHER cycle. • Press EXTRA RINSE four times within 5 seconds. • Press EXTRA RINSE to advance to the next step of the test procedure. • If the starting procedure fails, push PAUSE/CANCEL, then repeat the starting procedure.

Honorable Moostafa, Many thanks for your bits of wisdom. Will unplug the machine for a bit and see if it decides to quiet down. Many thanks! Regards, Jon
