We were washing some heavy rugs. Washer stopped during Final Spin cycle. Opening the front door, the large rubber collar (or whatever it's called) that spands the door opening to the drum, is being pulled down significantly, making it look as if the drum is no longer sitting as it should so it can spin. Has it come off the spinning mechanism? This is a 2003 Profile Front-loading washer - model WPXH214A0WW. Should I pay the $85 to have a technician come look at it or should I just go buy another one?

Reach in and spin the drum by hand. How does it sound? Scrapy-noisy? Does it spin easily and freely?

Hmmm... Was just looking at a Frigidaire to replace it with. Should I get the GE fixed or buy something other than a Frigidaire?
