Hi everyone.

The house we are in came with a class="bluetext11"GSD6610GBB dishwasher. It's been good for us and gets used at least once a day as my wife runs a daycare.

Today, it was mid-cycle and just stopped sometime during the rinse cycle. The electronic panel was non-responsive. Opening and closing the door didn't help.  When I got home I switched off the breaker for about 30-40 seconds and turned it back on.

The dishwasher was seemingly fine after this, however, I am concerned that it might be "on its way out".  Is the above problem a symptom of a failing circuit board? Or something else?

Should we be shopping for a new dishwasher, or will this one likely last longer?

Lastly, do you know if this is a tall-tub dishwasher? This is the only website I've found with the model I have: GE Appliances - GSD6610GBB

What would be a comparable and recommended dishwasher these days? Black or stainless preferred.

Thanks to any and all responses!
Cheers,
Eric

Can't say that the control panel blanking out is indicative of an incipient failure. Lots of times, noise and transient spikes on the power supply to the dishwasher can make the electronic controls go squirelly. Preemptive strikes in appliance repair rarely makes sense. Just keep using it until it breaks. :argh:

Thank you, oh wise samurai. ;)

After running the dishwasher on all cycles at least once over the past few days, it appears that the "problem" was a one-off as you suggested - possibly a voltage spike or something to that effect.

Here's hoping that was it, and that this dishwasher stays running for a while longer - it cleans extremely well and would cost near $1000 to replace with a similar model.

Cheers!
Eric
