Hello everyone. I am thinking of buying a HE coin-op for an apartment building. The tenants are mature professionals. Q1.Do you think I will have significant problems if they ocassionally use a regular detergent accidently. Q2. Are these front loaders as easy to repair (Kenmore) Q3. Are they as durable? My reason for wanting HE is our small drains and small washing pit. The plumbing and pit will be happier with less water. Also less water to clean if we have a back up Thank you Very much

the most common repair i do, on an almost daily basis is removing foreign objects from the pumps of front load washers all washers have a gap between the stationary tub that holds the water and the basket that holds the clothes and spins on a top load this gap is up at the top, its very difficult for a coin to spin loose and make it up and over this gap, on a front load this gap is low and coins make it through easily i have one building with half a dozen top loads and one front load, i am removing stuff from the one front load pump more often than i am doing repairs to all the other top loads combined

Removing the front lower panel *does* provide easy access to the rubber sump & drain motor for cleaning and/or service. For "retirees"---this washer may not be an entirely bad choice---as long as it not used ***heavily***. The weakest link of this washer is the rear bearings--which can fail rather fast (5 years or so) if the washer is used more than 8 loads per week.
