Large plastic spoon fell onto heating element and during dry cycle melted on the element. Now the whole diswasher smells along with the dishes inside. What is the best way to get the rest of the plastic off of the element?

you can try using a hair dryer to soften the plastic and peel off.........You my want to add water to the bottom of the dishwasher if using  anything hotter, like a heat gun......
