As noted above, I discovered that I had a chunk of material missing from the gasket and was in need of replacement (due to influx of water into the lower areas of my Dojo). I had called LG Canada for out of warranty service, and found that $180 and a couple of weeks would likely rectify the situation..... And then came Applianceguru! Thanks to the community here, I was able to source the part directly from LG (#4986ER0006B) for a mere $42.50 and complete the repairs on my own. The posts that covered off gasket replacements were a godsend, and made things go very smoothly (the Service Manual was also a big help too!). I found that the LG spring pliers were not required - I was able to substitute them for some gasket pliers I had for automotive work. A tip I learned from the LG Tech to further simplify things was to remove both sets of weights from the front of the drum before dealing with the gasket - this tip definitely made re-installation a lot easier. Turnaround time was less than a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon, and peace reigns once more I also took this time to give it a good cleaning, and so far, all is working like new. My Thanks to all here that contribute and enable us to learn new skills and put them to practice! Cheers!
