GE model number wwa8955salww timer issue been running fine til recently at the end of the first agitation cycle the timer doesn't advance forward so that the unit will start draining. I can manually advance the knob just a hair (push it in, turn it a click or two and pull the knob back out) and then the unit will start to spin/drain and it continues on with the rinse cycle and final drain/spin with no further intervention. At other times it will go through all cycles with no manual intervention at all. I suspect it's the motor timer or the timer asm washer (part number 101 and 100 respectively in the diagram below. The motor timer is only $10 and is what I had planned on replacing but wanted another opinion since the other part is over $70 I'm not sure that I'd spend that much to repair such an old unit but then again it's been a good one and I hate to replace the whole washer if it's salvageable.

You can measure voltage at the timer motor to see whether or not it's getting voltage the entire time. If it is, then you may have a plastic gear inside the timer with some teeth knocked out.
