GE model number wwa8955salww timer issue been running fine til recently at the end of the first agitation cycle the timer doesn't advance forward so that the unit will start draining. I can manually advance the knob just a hair (push it in, turn it a click or two and pull the knob back out) and then the unit will start to spin/drain and it continues on with the rinse cycle and final drain/spin with no further intervention. At other times it will go through all cycles with no manual intervention at all. I suspect it's the motor timer or the timer asm washer (part number 101 and 100 respectively in the diagram below. The motor timer is only $10 and is what I had planned on replacing but wanted another opinion since the other part is over $70 I'm not sure that I'd spend that much to repair such an old unit but then again it's been a good one and I hate to replace the whole washer if it's salvageable.![]()

You can measure voltage at the timer motor to see whether or not it's getting voltage the entire time. If it is, then you may have a plastic gear inside the timer with some teeth knocked out.
