I'm looking to buy a 17-20 cubic foot upright freezer. I'd like to know which models are good to great quality - i.e. built well, reliable. Not looking for many options - frost free may be the only option we'd consider. I won't buy another GE product - my microwave and dishwasher were my "lesson learned". Thanks.

well personally i'm the frigidaire guy here but if you can handle the lil bit of extra work i recommend a manual defrost, not frost free from the size you want i have to assume you will have a large amount of food destined for long term storage, its the raise in temperature from the defrosting that causes freezer burn, this defeats the purpose of a large freezer in my opinion if done regularly defrosting an upright is not very time consuming if you use a blow dryer or steam gun always remember to dry the racks well with a towel before putting the unit back into service frigidaire manual uprights have a drain hole and tube you can place into a container for easy clean-up
