Was an error message displayed?

If there's water & wet laundry in the tub---the door lock can fail to unlock.

This usually triggers an error message...

My husband thought it said SU but he's not sure it happened around midnight last night. He said it happened in the rinse cycle.

It's fairly common to get an error: *suds*

This is caused by incorrect type of detergent or too much of the right/correct detergent.

All front load washers require "HE" type detergent (a low suds formulation)

Three types are commonly sold...

HE (regular): Use only 2 Tablespoons per load of laundry

HE 2X (double concentrated): Use 1 Tablespoon

HE 3X (triple concentrated): Use 1 Teaspoon

From an informal *service bulletin* at Samsung...

Will not go in spin mode, wash mode is ok.

Confirm that the drain pump is not logged with

soap. Washer may Display SUDS, but not always.

Sometimes can feel of the hoses around the pump

if they feel hard, possible soap build-up, may need to

pull hose to see. Also if you keep trying to put in spin

may start and stop  will be very slow and after some length

washer may spin.  Check for soap overuse.

select drain/spin cycle and start the machine, you should hear the washer drain pump running and it should drain water

if it doesn't you prolly have something in the drain pump, when the machine does not drain it will still go through cycles and refill, untill it goes into an overfill situation, once this happens the door will lock and not reopen untill the water is manually removed

easiest way to get the water out of a locked samsung washer is to put the end of the drain hose into the hose of a shop vac, cup hand over the connection to make a good seal and the vacuum will suck the water out of the machine(unless its a sock in the pump)

once all water is removed take off the back panel and you will see the drain pump, remove the 2 hose clamps, undo hoses and remove the 3 screws and one wire harness then you can remove the pump from the machine and look inside it to remove whatever was jamming it, if the 3 plastic vanes in the pump all look good and none are broken the pump should be reuseable

service manual is downloading, will post link when it is finished

i put your manual here   http://cid-161d5dae096a24ce.office.live.com/browse.aspx/service%20manuals/samsung?uc=1
