I have a 5 year old Bosch wfmc3200uc. I started to get the infamous E04 error code during the draining process. The pump seems to be working as the initial amount of water will drain from the tub. To be sure it was not a debris problem, I opened the trap and saw nothing that would cause a clog. I then disconnected all the tubes from the pump and inspected the pump and all the tubes. I saw some gunk in the tube that connects to the pump and drains to a catch at the top of the washer. So I removed all tubes from the pump on up. I cleaned them, removed all the gunk and replaced all the parts. After this it seemed that more water was draining, but there was still a quart or so of water left in the tub. I then ran a drain cycle and saw the formed boot between the pump and the tub collapse when the drain pump started. Do I just need to replace the boot or is there supposed to be water / air pumped in separately from the tub to keep it from collapsing? It seems that there is a relief valve of some type that also feeds into the boot. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

not familliar with bosch, but whenever i see that boot colapse on any other make there is something stuck between the tubs being drawn into the pump boot(sock etc) remove boot from tub and fish around in there with a small wire with the boot off you should be able to shine a bright light up the hole and look inside the wash tub through the small holes and locate what is inbetween your dispenser is open and would allow air in, so its not collaspsing cause the tub is going into a vaccuum

there is a big ball in the hose that connects to the tub. this ball is there to act as a one way valve to prevent dirty water from enterin the tub. sometimes this ball will get stuck due to dirt or other contaminents. remove the ball and clean it and the hose and reinstall.
