Anyone out there identify motor wire colors on my kenmore 3-speed? I'd like to be sure it's bad before replacing... thanks!

Ok, somebody with appliance brains please confirm this, and I promise to donate to their favorite fund. I've found my kenmore elite's wiring diagram (part#3954811)and it gives various resistance readings (lo-hi-med-start) at motor. I get zero's for all. So is my motor trashable?

where did you get the 3954811 wiring diagram from ? is it different than the one I posted ? You should be using a digital OHM meter on the 200 OHM scale .. If you have a Harbor Freight Store near you, they have these meters, w/battery sometimes on sale for $ 1.99 if on sale, print sale page and take to store click on picture ![]() click on picture ![]()

The diagram was attached to the washer so I'm assuming it's right. I've got a radio shack "needle" meter and was getting some readings from the capacitor. Can you think of any test I could do to be sure it's reading well?

Capacitor readings seem OK, but it'll be hard to read the Motor windings with a "needle" meter.

Well, bought a $3.49 meter, and it reads .9 when probes are together but when I subtract .9 from the readings of two windings (start and hi) they match the specs. The other two read infinity/open circuit. Based on these results, don't you think it's odd that my spin cycle doesn't work?

I'm good -- have decided it's the motor. Thanks for your help.
