Please help. I have the new door latch switch but do not want to damage the machine when taking apart the front of my washer. This is the second one I have replaced. The button keeps breaking off! Is this a problem many others have experienced?
Thanks in advance for your help!

be sure the door isn't sagging. if the door IS sagging, it wont align properly and the door shifts up and the tab snaps.

the procedure:
1. open door.
2. release clamp holding door boot/seal in with small screw driver.
3. remove front portion of door boot and push it back.
4. remove 3 Torx 15 or 20 screws from door lock assemb.
5. disconnect 3 wire harnesses from the door lock.
6. reassemble with new door lock in reverse order.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I had already figured out exactly what you described and replaced the switch successfully. Regarding the door sagging, I believe that I do have a minor issue with this Is there a reasonable fix for this? This is the third switch installed in my machine even though it is only 6 years old. As a precaution, I am carefully closing the washer door every time it is used.  I have to say that considering how much the Duet pair cost me back when it was new, it has been the most maintenance intensive washer I have ever owned. I have spent over $400 for out of warranty repairs already and if I had not bought and installed this switch myself, I would have another $200 invested in this repair as well. My last washer and dryer lasted for over 15 years with hardly a problem.
