My Maytag Performa PAV 2200 AWW Washer came with the house. It has always been a dancer, very temperamental about unbalanced loads. Upon further review, I don't think I ever did a good job maintaining the stabilizer system.

Does it still humm if you remove the belt? See if the motor starts and runs with the belt removed...also while your down there check the 2 small pulleys and ensure they will turn smoothly and easily in both directions.

no! with the belt off she purrs like a kitten. Both pulleys are turning okay, but I don't know how freely they are supposed to be doing so

so, do I pony up the $69 for a new pump assembly? While I'm at it, do I buy new rear leveling legs to keep her from dancing? Grant me wisdom, for the love of God, and I will bless your dolphins.

at the main drive pulley in the center of the bottom you will see a bunch of white shavings. that is from the snubber assembly. its the most likely component of "dancing" as you call it i replace these alllllll the time for vibration/walking. its not fun to replace... look for a bunch of white shavings under the washer and let me know...
