Whirlpool Refrigerator ET18TMXDW05 type 18TFA96.  Mfg. 04.96

Has been working great until a week ago.  Finally found that after dispensing the ice cubes it refills but overfills and water runs into the cube catch container.  The only other odd thing is that veggies in the drawers had been getting frosted.

I emptied the refrig and cleaned it all and now the refrig part seems to be OK (veggies OK this AM) but still have same problem with ice maker.

One other thing is that the ice maker is slightly canted away from the refrig wall.  I noticed the top sticks out a bit more than the bottom and this may have something to do with the water flowing out.

Level the ice maker to keep the water from going over the side.  If this still does not solve this turn the fill time down some on the ice maker head.  If it still over fills you may have a fill valve not shutting off when it is supposed to, putting too much water in during the 8 seconds or so the ice maker gives power to the valve.  The last resort is to replace the ice maker but probably leveling the ice maker might solve all of this.

Generally, at the front of the ice maker there is plastic covering the edge of the cube tray (where the ice is made).  It is common for residue to build up between the cube tray and the plastic on the lip of the cube tray.  This causes a siphon effect, that draws water out of the cube tray and causes it to drip into the bin.  If you remove the plastic covering the cube tray, you can clean that lip and apply a little silicoln grease to stop the leaking.

Let me know if this helps.

My whirpool does the exact same thing - both the icemaker and the freezing veggies. Anyone have a suggestion for the freezing veggies? The service guy replaced the control board to try to fix it but it didn't and I (wrongly) gave up. It's done this from day 1.

I attempted to change the fill time on my 1996 Whirlpool icemaker but did not see an adjustment screw...where do I find this adjustment?
