I have a GE dishwasher model GSD4330Z02WW. I replaced the inlet sump, but the dishwasher is leaking between the tub and sump. Other forums say that no silicon sealant is needed if the sump cover and sump cap are installed correctly. Apparently, I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

No silicon necessary, the most common thing I see with your complaint is that the sump isn't correctly in the channel of the tub. When it enters the tub you have to stretch the rubber over the groove, not on the inside. When you have it correct, it will lay there flat, flush with the bottom.

OK--I did not have to do a lot of stretching. The part (WD18X213) is not really flush (but very close). I have pushed it down from the inside but the seal is neither tight nor flush. What creates the "stretching"? For the removal/installation I removed the cover and cap, loosened the band, and removed the old inlet. To install, I pushed the inlet sump in (as mentioned before, did not need to stretch too much), attached to the pump, and installed the cap and cover.

If this is a brand new boot, it would help to wet it up first, maybe put some soapy water on the seal lip, before installing it.

I put it in warm, not soapy, water. I'll try reinstalling again and see if I can get it right this time.

Happy ending! I reinstalled and there were still a few drips. However, after a week they went away and it is bone dry. Thanks for everyone's help.
