experienced a recent power outage

after the electric came back on noticed that the digital clock is incorrect

according to the stove a minute is now only 40 seconds.....

guessing the power failure cost me an oven control "ERC"?

no fault codes - haven't checked the teperature accuracy yet but it seemed to get to 300 deg really fast

didn't know if the ERC is the brain of the oven/unit or if other "boards" exist?

GE Gas Range Model JGBP85WEB5WW

THANKS

The range only has 1 board. I'm not clear on the problem though...your saying that the clock is advancing every 40 seconds rather than 60?

yes and after checking the temp on the oven today I set it for 300 deg

it kicked off and the display was reading 300 deg while the actual temp was closer to 200 deg - 33% off

guess I need to replace the ERC then......

I've never seen the time alter on a digital control like that before. Yes I would replace the ERC. If purchased from Repair Clinic it can be returned within 30 days .

Check the oven temperature sensor...

http://fixitnow.com/wp/2003/02/04/appliance-tip-of-the-day-oven-temperature-sensors-demystified/

If it checks good, then fo' sho' you be needin' the ERC. I've seen these GE ERCs go bad in a way that they don't interpret the sensor resistance correctly.
