I've been replacing the bearings and seals in these machines with good results. You have to have access to a press though. They are common size bearings available at the local machine and industrial supply outlet. (Kinecor in Dartmouth NS, there's likely such supply outlets in any major center, or on-line)
I also change the bearings in the motor.
Cost for a set of bearings and a seal is about $30 here.
Motor bearing: part number 6202
Inner tub bearing: part number 6307
outer tub bearing: part number 6306
tub seal: part number 408010-DL
I also call on them for other parts, often the appliance parts outlets cannot source a part for me, an recent example was a pump seal for a Hitachi portable automatic washer, I would have accepted that I'd have to replace the entire pump, but they couldn't get one. So I took the pump apart, took the seal to Kinecor, it was about $5.00 for a new one.
I keep a spare rebuilt rear tub and motor (initially saved from a washer that had been junked), when I come across one that has bad bearings, I can change it out with my rebuilt one, saves a lot of time and money, most people will opt for saving a couple hundred $. I'll then rebuild the one removed and have it ready for the next time it's needed.
