Trying to install the Whirlpool 675808 impeller kit into my Inglis IHU98051 dishwasher. I was told that this is an equivalent to a Whirlpool DU920PFG. Have disassembled everything down to the drain impeller, and had to chip both the wash and drain impellers away with a hammer and chisel to get them out. But now I am not sure as to how to get the pump seal out or to install the new one that came with the kit. I have downloaded the "Power Clean Filter Module Service" manual from Whirlpool's site, and according to it, the seal is supposed to pry out, but on my pump, there is a metal disc attached to the motor shaft above the seal, as well as some sort of white spacer underneath this disc. Neither the spacer nor the seal I believe is able to pry past the metal disc of the shaft. I've attached a close up photo of the bottom of the pump to illustrate. What I'm wondering is... is the metal disc on my motor shaft a leftover part of the drain impeller that I chipped away? And what is this spacer for? It just seems to float above the seal, and I don't see it in any of the parts diagrams that I've found for my pump. The service manual pump diagram I downloaded is very close to mine but not exact, as mine contains a stem valve which I've had to replace before. Doing some more searching, and I found that the Whirlpool DU920QWDQ0 has the same pump as mine, but they list the same part number for the impeller kit. Can someone confirm this? (ie: what is the correct equivalent Whirlpool dishwasher for the Inglis IHU98051, and do I indeed have the right kit?) Its been a while but I think the white ceramic piece is part of the seal, or it pops into the bottom of the impeller. Yeah now that I think about it i'm pretty sure it came out of your old impeller. Also I cant get your model # nor your Part # for the seal kit to pull up anywhere.....can you double check them?

You will need to clean/chip all that rust off the motor shaft then the metal washer will slide off letting the ceramic face seal and then lower bellows/carbon face seal be removed. Hopefully the motor shaft isn't to rusted out to hold the new impeller. You state you are trying to install impeller and seal kit part# 675808, that comes up as a spray arm kit. The kit I use on these dishwashers is this one: 8193524, it has all seals/impellers and gasket you will need to do any of this model/style of dishwasher. ![]()

Ack... sorry guys. The correct part number that I picked up is 675806, not 675808.![]() But 8193524 looks much better. I'll see if I can pick one up locally. Unfortunately, I've already opened up the bag that the other kit came it, so I won't be able to return it... anybody want it? Would gladly trade it for a pump centering tool-can't find one of those anywhere locally, and everyone says Whirlpool has them on backorder. The model number is definitely the right one. But now I don't think I have the right service manual for it. Can somebody tell me for sure what the equivalent Whirlpool model is so I can find the right service manual? Thanks for the information on the remaining bits of drain impeller that I can now remove. Going to close the door switch, run a Cancel/Drain cycle, and run some emery cloth on the spinning motor shaft-that should shine it up nicely. It's not that badly rusted... the out of focus picture makes it look much worse than it is.

Just got home from work, and was able to pull off the washer and ceramic disc easily. I also shined up the motor shaft pretty good as well. Going to leave the old rubber seal in place until I get my new kit, which according to my supplier should be in a day or two.

The seal kit you have should be fine, just doesn't have all the misc gaskets and o-rings that the other kit has.

Well, the dishwasher is back together. Had to use both kits to get all the parts I needed, as the drain impeller in 8193524 was completely different than 675806's drain impeller, even though it looks like in the pictures above that they should be the same. The 8193524 impeller is shorter in length, has much bigger fins (albeit fewer), as well as a brass cap over top of it-missing the hole that lets the wash impeller bolt thread down into the motor shaft. (I can snap a picture and post it if anyone is interested in seeing it.) Everything else in the kit was right though, and while I had everything apart, I wanted to change all of the gaskets and seals, otherwise I would have only used 675806. So now I've got a bunch of spare parts, but my test rinse and holds worked fine... no drips! Had to take everything apart once, as the first time I ran a cycle, there was a rattling sound... it was a few small pieces of chipped drain impeller that I had missed cleaning up. Removing them and reassembling and the noise is gone. Thanks again everyone for your help!

I don't know what you did, but I can assure you both of those kits contain the same exact wash impeller/ drain impeller/ seal and chopper assembly. The only difference is the extra gaskets and o-rings. Your old original one may have had the old style chopper that had an extra centering spacer setup that is completely discarded. The new drain impeller and chopper blade and spring are made to be used without the spacers from the old one.

The only difference is the extra gaskets and o-rings. Well I can assure you that the impeller I received in 8193524 is NOT the same as the impeller in 675806. I'm not saying that they aren't supposed to be the same, as I believe they should be according to the pics, but mine was not. Here's a couple of pics of the wrong impeller. Yes it did have the old style chopper, and when I installed the new one, I did not reinstall the drain sleeve and grind bushing. I'm guessing that it must have been a mistake in packaging... they put the wrong drain impeller in with the kit I received. I will take the impeller back and see if they can change it with the right one, and then I'll have another complete set (minus some of the seals) to install should I ever need to rebuild again.

Says on it: -------- FSP APPLIANCE CARE PRODUCTS BY WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION - Easy to install. - Genuine Whirlpool quality. 8193524 PUMP-REAR DW MADE IN US CODE 061812 -------- Would you be able to give me a Whirlpool part number of a kit that this impeller would be part of? That would really help me show my parts store that FSP messed up.

barcoboy wrote: Budget Appliance Repair wrote:Was that a sealed package??? So, what you are saying then is the kit that I said you needed, 8193524, had the wrong impeller, (the one you have in the picture)? If so then definitely packaged wrong, I have that kit sitting in front of me right now and it has the correct wash(black) and drain(gray) impellers in the kit just as in the RepairClinic parts picture: http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=830831 ![]() If you ordered it from RepairClinic they will probably send you a new kit if you call and talk to them about it. Are you sure that wrong impeller didn't come in the other, 675806, kit that you had already purchased and maybe you had both packages opened and mixed up what parts came from what package? The impeller and seal kit that the wrong impeller that you have should be packaged in is part# 4386996 http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=585779 ![]()

Thanks Willie. Yep, I'm sure the wrong impeller was in the 8193524 and the right one was in the 675806. I had actually taken 675806 back to my supplier to ask them if I could return it, but decided to keep it after noticing that I thought the impeller included with 8193524 was the wrong one. I even said something to the person at the store about it, and they came back with, "Oh, it might be a new and updated part. Try it and see." But I could tell just by looking at it in the package that it wouldn't fit. But I didn't want to wait another week for them to return the kit and get another one, so I decided to use both kits. So now I will take the impeller back and see if I can exchange it for the right one, and that will give me a complete 675806. Thanks too for #4386996-that will help me prove it's the wrong impeller.
