Will explain why i am asking. we need to replace our air conditioner unit and the coil. According to one salesman we will get the tax credit if we match the maker on our 5 year old furnace and the brand new air conditioning unit. the air conditioner has to be 16 or higher, that much i understand. According to another salesman no such thing. he showed us the AHRI.org website and there are no American standard furnaces there where i select my system. i have a feeling that i don't understand something here or he mislead us. I am trying to figure out who is telling the truth and if there is any point in worrying about tax credit as since we are not replacing the furnace, then we will never qualify. our funace is American Standard AUD120R9V3J I am feeling really clueless here. can someone please help? TIA EDIT: never mind. i answered my own questions. called IRS and got a clear answer regarding tax credit. Trane is the one making American Standard.
