43 degrees closer to the bottom of the refrig.

Settings are still freezer on 3 (of 6) and refrig dial just over 5.

Freezer temperature is reading 10 degrees. (I've checked the freezer temperate a few times since installing the new part and it's been 10 just about every time...there was once when it was 0, but just once).

Just prior to the install, I had cleaned out all the dust from under the fridge and the fan in the back (as a newbie at this, I'm not sure I cleaned out everywhere I needed to, but unless I needed to take off the back panel, I think I got all the dust.)

I'm guessing 43 degrees is still a bit too warm?

The Compressor on that model is controlled by the Temperature of the Freezer.

The Fridge Temperature is controlled by a mechanical Damper Door and the Evaporator Fan.

If the Freezer temperature is happy, I don't think the Compressor will run.

If the Fridge isn't cold enough, the Damper Door will stay open, but I don't know if the Evaporator Fan will run.

Is the Fridge empty ? (shouldn't be)
and/or are you opening the Fridge Door too often ?

Both sides are full at all times. The fridge door is opened often throughout the day (3 kids). That said, the readings I take are usually in the morning after several hours of no doors opening at all.

Damper door is currently not open...with the help of this forum, I replaced the damper door assembly just under 2 weeks ago and the damper door was opening fine. I initially was getting refrig readings at 38 degrees near top of fridge on current settings, but just over the first few days, it's settling in at 40. On the advice of appl.tech, I took readings in lower section of refrig and it's 43 degrees.

As for the Evaporator fan and the frost pattern of the Evaporator Coils, I'm too much of a newbie to know where to begin looking.

I'll do some checking, but if anyone can point in the right direction on where to find the Evaporator Fan and Coils, I"ll report back with the findings (and pics.)

how's the Evaporator Fan speed ?

hhmm.. hard to tell

Evaporator should be evenly, lightly, frosted after the Compressor has been running at least an hour

try Defrosting the ice with a hair dryer (and replace panel) and post another picture after a few hours ...

I'll do that. Since taking off the panel to see the coils, the fridge had been silent. So, I opened the freezer and saw a heating coil glaring bright orange (i'm guessing it's in the middle of a defrost cycle?)

Most of the frost/ice has melted...just a small chunk of ice sticking on.

I'll empty the freezer/fridge contents, let that last bit of ice melt and will then replace the panel and post back later this afternoon.

The evaporator fan speed? I'll be as specific as I can...just not sure I'll be able to describe speed.

With the ice almost gone, i"ll replace panel...unless there's some other things I should be checking first....thanks again.

Okay...left the freezer side empty and put the panel back on. Temperature 8-10 degrees...here are pictures after just under 5 hours after put the panel back on.

try setting both controls colder ..

Freezer should be about 0F

Switched both dials to 5.5...it's only been 12 hours since and I understand from appl.tech that it'll take about 24 hours to get accurate readings. (I won't be able to take readings for a couple of days so I thought I'd post.)

Fridge is 39 on top shelf...liquids definitely feel cooler. Freezer showing 10 F, but has only been in there 30 minutes and it's not the quickest reading thermometer.

Will leave it as is and check readings again in a couple of days.

Hmmm...I took a couple of steps back lately.

With both dials set at at 5.5 (out of 6) for a couple of days, the temperatures settled in nicely...freezer hovering near 0 degrees and the fridge just under 40.

After a couple of more days, temperature in the fridge steadily started dropping and by late last week, fridge was at 32. After one more day, things starting to freeze, so I started turning both dials down. Early on Sunday, I had both dials turned down to 2...the freezer is hovering around 8 degrees, but the fan/compressor (?) continues to run and cool things down. The problem is that although the fridge dial is set at 2, the damper door is not closing. Thus, I'm getting all that cold air from the freezer sent to the fridge and things are freezing again.

Even right now, freezer is showing 8 degrees but compressor/fan are still running and even if I knock the freezer dial down to 0, it's still running.

Any more thoughts?

Maybe the return air (lower vents between the 2 sides) are blocked somehow, or the coils are blocking with Ice or the fan is failing

I can take another photo of the coils if that will help.

I'll also check those lower vents...but I could use some help finding them. Any tips on where they are located and I'll check them out?

Vent is located on the left hand wall of the frige side . Start at the bottom and work your way up to the middle until you spot it...usually about a 2.5"x4.5" rectangle vent.

Great, easy to follow instructions...thanks.

The vent is not blocked (although by design, the fruit/vegetable drawer sit pretty close to it.) I could see through the vent to the freezer side...coils look frosty, but in the limited view I had, no ice buildup.

Freezer has been running constantly (I assume that's the compressor) and the damper door is open all the time with cold air coming into the fridge. Periodically, I've had to turn the freezer dial down to 1 just to get it to stop. I just set freezer to 2 and fridge to 3 and will leave for another 24 hours (although I anticipate a frozen fridge side in the morning).

I will take a updated picture of the coils tomorrow evening...any other things I can look for or try?
