Trying to save money I bought a used (2005) 27" Kenmore laundry center (41794812301)--has a squeaky drum and now the dryer heat has just stopped. I have torn down and rebuilt hundreds of Maytag dryers in the 90s but a co-worker did the electrical and that was a long time. I have some questions:

Questions:
For the squeak it appears there is just a bearing kit I need to buy (http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-41794812301-%3d%3di1851&PartID=1851) Not being familiar with this style of dryer is there anything I should also replace "since I'm there"?

With the no heat issue, can I just first check the element since I am replacing the bearing anyway?
The Electrolux manual I have is a 2003 and it says I should check terminals 1,2,5,4 (on the fabric selector switch? I'm not sure) with different settings. My selector switch only has two terminals number 4 & 5. See  image below--SL switch on the right. terminal 5--blue, terminal 4--red. Is it just an outdated manual or am missing something? And where is the neutral terminal? This is new to me thus the reason for hoping it is just the element.

Thanks.

Also check the upper felt glide on the front bulk head with the 3 plastic pads. If the pads are worn through or one is missing then replace it. Check the element at the element once you have the tub removed. You will have to remove the top of the dryer to remove the tub. Once the belt is released you have to lift the back of the tub up about 2". There is a good chance it will be stuck.

Hopefully they didn't left the rear bearing fail to the point that it chewed the housing up and shorted the element.

check resistance across 4 & 5

should be about 7200 OHMS

and infinite from either one to chassis

also re-set your house Circuit Breaker for the Dryer.

Any general guidelines on when to replace the idler pulley? Is there supposed to be even the slightest play? Should I/can I add a drop of machine to pulley? Seem touch dry.

Just clean the shaft with some emery cloth. Its ok to have a very slight amount of play. Just rub a little oil on the shaft ( not much) it really doesn't require any.
