Delonghi Dehumidifier Question?

I have a DE400P. Looks like this .

Sorry for posting this here but the site won't let me post in the General area at this time.

My problem is twofold. First off, the pump refuses to pump water from the interior reservoir, and will eventually just flood over. I've been sticking the unit in the shower when I'm away for extended periods. Secondly, there is a hose behind the removable secondary reservoir, that seems to go to nothing.

How can I get the pump working and what is that hose for? I cannot find any mention of that oddball hose in the manual.

That hose is the optional connector hose. You use it to run out the house. The machine will cease to function if this hose gets clogged. It does so by a float that is attached. As the water levl rises the float rises and trips a switch that powers up the pump. If the pump fails the water rises to a point another switch kills power to the unit on these. Their is also a switch that kills power if the catch basin is not properly positioned to catch the water. Any of these switches malfunctioning and you is gonna get flooded.

How do I get to the internal reservoir to check on those floats? I'm aware of the position switch and float on the removable tank, but that's not the issue. Also, what is that hose that comes out of the machine behind the removable tank? It's only about 5" long, usually full of water, and goes UP from where it comes out. It does not go into the removable tank from what I can tell.

I am using the optional hose with the pump, that I do know about, and that's what's not working. Does not appear to be plugged, at least the hose isn't. Not sure what might be gummed up inside.
