My dishwasher starts up fine, but will sit for hours in the "end" cycle status, without completely finishing the drain process. I can push a couple of buttons at the same time to manually cancel the cycle, at which point it will start draining again and wrap up.

Have checked all drain lines - clear. Have increased water temp - plenty hot.

Thoughts?

Check Control Board for burns contacts.

Another cause could be an intermittant water valve ( I struck this last week). When it gets stuck and sounds like it is draining, it may actually be the circulation pump running, but the dishwasher did not fill with water, causing the cycle to get stuck. and also why, when the cycle is canceled, the dishwasher pumps out.

My new rule of thumb with these units is: any intermittant fault or cycle stalling issue, check board, if board okay, replace valve.;)

I am having the same problem with my Whirlpool DU920PWKQ0.. it went into final rinse mode one night, and was still rinsing 9 hours later.. ugh!  Thought it may be the heating coil, but tested it tonight and it heats just fine.  I can manually turn the dial and move it to drain and it will sycle off on it's own from there.  Would I check the same things to try to diagnose the problem with my unit?  If so, can I find info on where and how to access the control board somewhere in this site?  Thanks!  Anjanette
