Aahhh, Wise Appliance Guru! Most humble servant and barely "apprentice" asks for your help. My dishwasher (when its broke it is mine, when it works it is the wife's) is working fine. What isn't working correctly is the button to open the door. The latch secures the door just fine, cycles all work properly; yet when you go to open the door... you have to push, really push, to get the mechanism to "release" the door. When the door is open the guts of the latch seem sloppy/floppy. I can not seem to find any info about how to get to the latch mechanism. With the door open I see lots of screws holding the inside of the door to what I hope is the outside of the door. My guess would be to unplug the unit, and undo those screws and pray that a bunch of loose things don't fall out!! If there are some photos or diagrams that would be helpful. I looked (10) ten pages deep on the forum looking for a similar problem and didn't see anything pertinent. I am hoping that the most wise Appliance Guru can guide me to success in the latch department. You were most helpful last month in repairing thermal fuse in the dryer. Thank You! Thank you for the manual to discern how to remove the switch/latch. Is there something that lists what the latch part numbers are to obtain the correct replacement? Also, since everything is working thus far... is the switch/latch just plastic and possibly just fatigued? Seldomseen

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-MDB7600AWQ-%3d%3di1268495&PartID=1268495 thats the handle/latch assembly, its very likely broken, i sell these by the case full your model came up with a latch that is bisque in color, make sure this is the correct color for your machine there are also lil plastic tabs on the control panel you may find are broken, you can install a new latch even if these are snapped, it usually works fine anyways

OK, the help is awesome so far!! On the actual door there are two little plastic pieces (kinda like a really small versions of a wooden spring loaded clothes pin) on each side of where the "Tee" shaped piece should be located when attached with the electrical switches. One leg on each side is gone. I am assuming these are the pieces you are saying can be gone and can still be operational or useable. There is a piece that attaches to the larger T-shaped piece. I believe that is where you put your fingers to actuate the latch and guts of the T-shaped piece. In the center on the back side of this piece or two pivot points (they are intact). As you go to the outside there appear to more pivot points that have broken off. I believe that the two little ones go into the T-shaped piece and then the other two pivot points (broken ones) go down the center post of the T and snap/clip into position. I can not tell if there should be a spring between the finger piece and the T-shaped piece to help keep tension on the finger piece. The pivot points on the T-shaped piece are fine and I see where they would attach to the pieces on the door (where one leg is broken off on each side). Since the finger piece is pretty well hidden from view. Is there any reason why I couldn't get the least expensive part of the three (bisque,white,black). I detect no difference in the photos except for the color. Let me know your thoughts and THANKS A TON!! for the help so far.

Momma said I will get some lovin' tonight! <---- that could make working on a commission basis a lil bit awkward hahah .... kidding post back if you have trouble getting the handle on, it can be a chore the first time if it doesn't wanna fit you need to active the latch mechanism

There is a downside to that approach.After four years or so the rest of the area that surrounds the handle & latch cracks.  {Ask me how I know. } And it appears that it is only available with a new touchpad control attached.Rather spendy it seems.RJ
