the Dispenser may just be a bimetal latch triggered by a resistor heater. You may be able to supply 120v (and wait) to check it ...

This is a great way to check wax motors. I carry a test cord in my tool bag for this.

hhmm.. test cord .. OK but what's with the Red & Black clips ? is Black hot ? as in AC volts ? or maybe it's just a 2-wire non-polarized plug ...

It's not a good picture, but there's an AC 120vac plug underneath the cord bundle. The alligator clips clip onto the spades of the wax motor. Wax motor isn't polarity sensitive so it doesn't matter which clip goes on what spade. Clip, plug, play!

Not sure what your point is. In using this cord with a wax motor, it doesn't matter which clip you put to which spade. In some applications, it may be good to know that the red clip is on the neutral wire; but for testing a wax motor, machts nicht.
