Kenmore gas wall oven model # 278.3138815 works fine, but when it's done, an F1 code is displayed and it beeps. Also....occasionally, the clock display will dim and sometimes go completely off. After tapping on the display, the clock gets bright again. What I've done so far: Checked the oven temp. sensor resistance......it checked ok......around 1100 ohms. Disconnected wires from clock/oven control and reconnected to make sure no loose connection. This model has a clock/oven control as well as a relay/circuit board. I'm thinking the clock/oven control is bad....but since this board is expensive, would like some other opinions and advice. Thanks a lot!

Many times, dim displays are cause by bad capacitors on the clock board. But if this were the case here, tapping on the board would probably not restore the display. Instead, this makes me think we still have a poor connection problem. Try cleaning those power connections to the clock. A pink pencil eraser works good. And make sure any terminal connections are goodntight. Gently squeeze back into shape and/or replace as needed.

Thanks for the advice....I will check connections again. Could this possibly be the cause of the F1 code, or is that an unrelated problem?

F1 is commonly either the ERC or the sensor. Can test the sensor resistance at a couple different temps. If good, then the ERC is is the suspect.

... little late noticing this thread ... we repair a lot of oven controllers with F1 codes ... the intermittent action you described is also a common board failure ... if you want to save a few $$ we can most likely repair this for you.
