have had water leaks in past. Water has since been disconected. Unit started flashing DE light. Defrost & reset cleared. After 5 days or so no air coming in from freezer to fridge. Read on one of this sites posts that (from water damage) both the control board & evaporator fan motor/thermistor should be replaced. Everything else works fine. Any thougts. Can't find the GE service manual (everyone probably knows that one is hard to find!). I am good with electronics (a designer with board level experience & lifelong handyman. Any guidance for the "blind" (no info) would be greatly appreciated here. Model is GE tfx28pbda bb.

I don't have any service manual for TFX...

but it doesn't seem to use a Controller Board.

It has mechanical Temperature Controls and a mechanical Defrost Timer.

Check the frost pattern on the Evaporator Coil and check the Evaporator Fan and Defrost circuit.

Sumpin' ain't raht. :headscratch:

Your model number pulls up a box with mechanical controls (see the breakdown diagrams linked in Reg's post). Yet you report a unit with flashing error codes. Mixed up the model number with another box?

nope, that's mine (picture of controls) and the number came off of the "official" sticker inside the fridge side on the roof.

This is a standard defrost system failure indicated with an electronic display. When you unplug the fridge, the fault code resets. Just troubleshoot and repair the defrost problem as you would for any fridge. Start in the freezer and check continuity of the defrost heater and def. thermostat.
