Please see 3rd post for the model number!!!!  Tkx!!

My sisters washer agitation dial (timer) would just spin around.  I opened up the dial panel and found there are some plastic cogs that broke on the timer.  How do I remove the timer mechanism, it looks like removing the metal housing should be simple but I can't seem to figure out how it is mounted.  Tkx Pippi Yeah I know I wrote it down but they live 95 miles from here and I can't find the paper I wrote it on!!!#%&!  So I guess I will have to call them tomorrow.  Sorry,  I was hoping most top loading Kenmore's were similar:P

Off the top of my gray matter, either the timer is held by two fasteners behind the last indicator disc towards the control panel..  OR.........look on the rear of the timer is a note that states ( not exact quote ) push knob in and pull black pin......OR.......................... Remove the knob and indicator,  under the wire connector is a plastic tab that you lift and slide the timer towards the tab  ( + a possible fastener)........................

Tried to move the picture from the Sears site but   the picture would not budge .....................from the picture it appears, to be held in place by only one  fastener, behind the knob and dial ........don't loose the fastener, sears wants $5.00 to replace it......................

Pippi- push timer knob in spin it ccw to remove. the dial will lift off, may need to use small screwdriver. you'll find a couple of screws to remove timer from console. dial is keywayed soo be sure to line it up when you put it back together.

I actually could not find any screws on the metal housing of the timer, but I will have to check again when I get back there.  Tkx for the info. on the nob removal.

This is the correct info you need to remove the timer knob so you can get to the screws that hold the timer in place.

This ISN'T the new style plastic body timer that others where telling you to look on back of timer for the pullout shaft.

Yeah!!! I was able to remove the dial, screws were difficult to break loose but with a long handle slothead I did it. Removed old timer and replaced. The notched plastic indicator for the load choice was cracked so I used some epoxy to reinforce and stuck it on and screwed the knob back on. Works like a charm. So this project is completed and I am "the woman" as far as my brother-in-law is concerned!!!

Thanks again Pip
