My Impeller and chopper are damaged on my 30 month old Kenmore dishwasher. (665110719130 - a canadian part number so you might not find a match). Sears and whirlpool will only offer a motor assembly and repair clinic doesn't ship to Canada. http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=1057453 http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=830886 I am fuming that it has broken already. The motor was replaced under warranty and I have spent $100 to have the fuse link replaced. (The technician walked into the house with the fuse link in hand (no diagnosis required) and said "this is version 3 or 4 of this".) I have contacted Sears Canada "Presidents Line" and the best they will offer me is $175 off the total of $285 for the parts. Considering the age of the machine and repairs already done I don't think this is reasonable. I would expect 10 years from an appliance like this. I have poked around on the web and found other people with this problem. My niece had the same problem with their Whirpool machine. I would like to hear from other people who have this problem to see if we can approach Sears / Whirpool as a group. Do you know of any other recourse with Sears and or Whirpool.

Hi, when was the wash motor changed? The original wash motor subbed up to a new part which as a different design wash impeller thats why you can't buy just the impeller. Before the new wash motor came out the impeller was available in a kit with the seal. The newer washer motor was improved in a couple of ways. Its possible when motor wash changed it was still the original setup, thats why i was asking about the install time because newer wash motor as been out for over a year. This dishwasher does not like any type of hard debre at all no matter what the sales guy says, it will bust up the chopper and impeller end. The only way you can get a impeller seperate is find a appliance shop that as the older stock, the chopper is not a problem to get in canada. Last edited on Sat Aug 6th, 2005 07:30 am by shane |

The motor was replaced on Feb 8th 2003. Does the new motor/impeller assembly improvements include changes to this weak area? The one I looked at from Sears didn't appear to be different. I will try to find someone with the impeller kit in Canada. Regardless of the repair aspect though I think this problem should be paid for by Sears or Whirlpool since the like is far shorter than reasonable. My last Dishwasher lasted over 20 years. Thanks for the help

I agree these motors were on a fine line to be recalled for bearing issues and c lips popping off when impeller jammed. If the original impeller was available its not a big deal. The older impeller had a plastic shank area that rested against a c clip on motor shaft the new impeller and motor shaft have a flat metal area so its a bit stronger. you can compar your older impeller to a new one by looking at the seal area of impeller.

Not for nothing but ...These arent the units of the past .... remember that Best advise as a tech is really make sure ya rinse the dishes ... That line I had my last one for 20 yrs is gonna be a 20 year old line soon ..... They look at it like this Most people dont have a car over 10 years ... why should the appliance last 20 years ??? I hope ya get the point ...

I see your point but I still don't find it acceptable. My 11 and 13 year old cars haven't lost an engine or transmission (similiar to to the motor/impeller) also if I pay to get this repaired I will have spent $100 for the fuse + $385 for the new pump on a $800 item. This is more than 60% of the the value of the item in 30 months. If I take into account the pump that was replaced under warranty then the repair cost would exceed the cost of the new item. If you spent 60% of the value of your car in 30 months I am sure you would not find that accepatble.

They are the same part. RepairClinic uses their own internal part numbering system. So, RC p/n 1057453 is the same as the Whirlpool (Sears) p/n 8268398.

Just to let you know that after complaining to the Better Business Bureau, Sears Canada gave in and sent me a new motor (with the impeller) assembly. You might want to try the same appoach with Sears USA. Thanks for all the help. Its too bad Repair Clinic doesn't ship to Canada. I think they are missing a big market opportunity.

Can anyone confirm that R/C's 1057453 is direct replacement for Whirlpool 8268398? My Sears model 665.17512201 has a motor with 5/16" threaded shaft and C clip. will the 1057453 impeller fit? I can't tell from the info on R/C site, so if someone has used one or has one of these in their hands to visually verify would be great.
