Grateful for finding your site and the fact that you had something on the Kenmore HE3 washer...I slammed the door on it accidentally...when I slammed it shut, it wouldn't start...started loitering on this sight and found your link

...paid the fiver to see the disassembly pdf ...best $5 bucks ever spent...

actually didn't even need the switch...cuz I found the little nubby thing that you show on your picture on my floor in front of the washer... super glued the beeotch back on (prolly not the most technically correct way of fixing it) but it works...even still $50 bucks for the switch is still cheap!...and your instructions made the fix a piece of cake...otherwise, I woulda prolly bought a whole new washer (I originally thought it was a circuit board or something...and besides, the washer is like 7 yrs old and has seen a family of 5s worth of laundry every day since then...and this is the ONLY problem I've ever had with it...seriously...prolly a couple thousand loads...at least one every day for 7 yrs...not bad considering this problem was my fault!)

will revert to slamming house doors instead of frail kenmore HE3 doors laden with plastic nubs and parts.

but thanks for saving me a ton of dinaro

Ditto on the first post! Thanks for the great info - the repair was a snap with your helpful drawings.

Taking this problem one step further though, It seems that my underlying problem is really a mis-aligned door. I've tried removing and re-installing the door but there seems to be no way to shim it back up to the proper position. The "sag" in the door appears to be within the door hinge itself.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on re-aligning a sagging HE3t washer door?

Thanks in advance for any help.

lol... lift up on it when shutting it...

no really lift up on it to re-bend the door a bit... should line up better...

then, don't lean on it when getting out your clothes !

BTW, everyone seems to complain about Sears.... Why doesn't anyone write letters to those appliance complaint websites about how GOOD their washer has been...

2,556.75 washes * approx $6.00/load at a laundromat = $15,340.50

About the little "rubby thing:" I found the same onthe floor in front of our HE3t Kenmore washer. However, for the life of me (and I'm usually good at this sort of thing) I cannot figure out how to put it back on.

I' took the entire switch out, and then disassembled the switch itself.

The washer still works, but w/o the rubby thing, closing the door makes an awful slamming noise, even if I close it oh-so-gently.

The 'thing' must be a bumper. Can someone tell me where it goes? Does it wrap around the little white 'uvula?' (the part of the switch the door hook contacts).

It's the actuator that closes a contact in the switch to tell the machine that the door is closed, and without it, you aren't going to get very far. When these machines first hit the streets, we were seeing a LOT of this, to the degree that it's not "customer abuse".
