I've been reading the postings for a few days and I understand the usual answers, but I won't be able to open this dryer up for a couple days and I had a question. My Dryer is a Kenmore Gas Dryer. Model 110.76702690. Last week while drying a blanket loaded with dog hair (the pets like to drag it off the sofa) the hair/lint fell off of the lint filter when I pulled it out to clean following the cycle. This slid down and blocked the vent line. The next day I pulled the machine out and cleaned the vent line out and then put it all back together. Ran 2 loads on timed cycle and everything worked fine. My wife then ran a temp control cycle and a.) it ran forever, and b.) it had no heat. Right now, I have lots of airflow thru the vent, timer works in timed mode but not in temp control and I assume that my thermal fuse has gone but why would it work for 2 loads before failing? Is it likely that I have a failure unrelated to the vent line being blocked? While I haven't actually LOOKED, it doesn't appear that the burner is lighting at all as in a coil failure. My exhaust doesn't even get warm. Please Oh Master, enlighten me... PS My vent line is 6 to 8 inches, out of the dryer and straight thru a outside wall so there are no restrictions in the line. Check the Thermal Fuse item #2986, take off the back panel and you will see it at the bottom left corner, take the wires off and hook them together put some electrical tape around them and start unit, should work if thermal fuse is bad, but if you have a volt/ohm meter check it that way SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SERVICE TECH/ KEEP AMERICA WORKING

Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate the instructions, but my question was, is there any reason why it would run 2 loads AFTER the vent blockage was removed before the thermal fuse fried? I'm just curious about how this would happen.

The thermal fuse takes a cumulative hit when a dryer runs in an overheat condition It's a little forgiving to avoid nuisance trips but it's designed to open in a persistent overheat condition.
