Kenmore Portable Dishwasher I just ran into a dishwasher that never had water in it even though it has some years on it being transported from person to person without ever working. I tapped the top of the float inside the dishwasher and closed the door and then the water started. I transported it then no water flow. Looked underneath and it seems the plunger is not plunging far enough to depress the lever arm to depress and trigger the safety overflow switch. I put a little boot on the plunger to give it more travel and walla it worked. Thats not permanent mcgyver fixin style so here I am twiddling my thumbs pondering the unthinkable. The switch doesn't have enough travel? The float plunger is not long enough? How do you remove float without breaking it? Just pull on it? I assume I can just pull the float up and out without breaking it. I still think the float plunger is not long enough or the switch assembly is not close enough to the tub thus causing no switch activation when the plunger is depressed. This machine never ran from day one because of some kind of defect in one of those parts. Last edited on Tue Nov 4th, 2008 02:26 am by outofink ____________________ pomegranite |

Parts Manual. ftp://ftp.electrolux-na.com/ProdInfo_PDF/Kinston/5995374393.pdf Strange, the end of the bubble has to push on the lever of the switch, either the bubble stem is too short of the lever is bent down or out of wack, not sure about what is wrong, just gonna have to make the stem push on the lever somehow...

so is it a ten four on pulling the float up and out? I guess I need to buy both parts to be safe. I could try a different switch that I have laying around and it might have more travel. Last edited on Tue Nov 4th, 2008 05:38 pm by outofink ____________________ pomegranite |

Should just pull up and out but not sure of course. Strange it is not pushing on the switch lever, or is it and the swtich itself is broken?? Might take them both out and see what is up with them..that is just an overflow switch in case of too much water, it is a safety system to shut off the fill valve in case of an electrical problem.

I turned the adjustible phillips screw as far as it would go and it still did not contact the cup on the arm to activate the switch. Some of the pictures of a float plunger seem to look slightly different and a tad longer past the tab. I wont know until I buy the float though. I inspected the lever but it didnt seem to be bad but then I dont have a new one to compare it to yet SHOTGUN! Might as well go to vegas and gamble on the part. BTW the unit is now running just want to ensure that the parts are oem and not mcgyver'd. Last edited on Fri Nov 14th, 2008 12:50 pm by outofink ____________________ pomegranite |
