I know I replaced the filter a few years ago (I even cleaned it up to use again) and I need to replace it. It has the same symptoms as before of not getting glass ware clean, but I don't remeber how I got the lower are off to get at the "torq" screws.

It must be simple, but I as my grandaughter would say: "I really don't have a clue."

Hello, my simple friend. The lower arm is held in place by a large diameter plastic furled nut right in the middle of the lower arm. Undo that and the whole lower arm assembly will come out. This exposes the torx bolts that you need to undo to get to the mesh filter.

Yours might have a flat round disc with small raised dots. You use the palm or heal of your hand to push down on the round disc and unthread it. After you remove it you will see a triangular piece of plastic under it, remove that (pay attention to how it went on) and the rest should be self explanatory.

was able to locate the nylon nut shown in the diagram. After removing the nut the arm assemply will not lift off. It will move up a 1/4 - 1/2 inch, but firmly stops at that point. I don't think a lot off lifting pressure will allow the arm assembly to be removed.

It does circulate freely around the centering bolt.

Okay, so what is Poppy Salamugundi? We used to have a favorite resturant in San Fransico called Salamugundi which served only great soups, salads and bread.

Was successful in getting to the filter when I finally figured out that there is a simple

locking mechanisim on top of the arm (about 2" diameter with an attachment which keeps the arm down even though the plastic nut is removed) .

Filter didn't look that bad. It didn't have the hard "calcium" deposits I remembered from the past replacement, but the there was a sticky coating on part of the filter that was rubber like with some fibers. We're (my wife and I) are now thinking we've got a bad box of dish washing detergent and we'll have to try a new brand.

Ran it after replacing the filter and the glasses still come out very cloudy.

I am opening up my Maytag MDB915 lower arm to clean out a severe case of gunk. I have reached as far #12 in the drawing from most wise Sublime Master. I got #11 off, and removed the bolt #12. The bolt seems to have a small black tapered washer that came out along with the bolt. I cannot see a #13, and am not able to remove #14 -- it seems quite solidly attached. #15 and below apparently won't come off until #14 is off.

Any suggestions, oh wise readers, or perhaps even oh Sublime Master, most appreciated.

Also, is it a good idea to soak everything below #14 in CLR for a couple of hours, in case I cannot get them disassembled?
