I have an 18" fan on a stand that is about a year old. The front (fan blade end) bushing (no bearings) has lost its original lube. Now the shaft regularly freezes up after turning the fan off. I have to remove the cage, and blade and drip some 3in1 or other light appliance oil down the shaft to free up the shaft then re-assemble. This fix lasts about a week sometimes less according to its use. My questions are: What was the original lube? Is there a particular oil that will last longer in the bushing than those two that I am using? Any suggestions? I hate to throw it out as it is quiet and effective here in central Texas. I would just like the lube to last more than a week. Thanks Dave (you could say Cheap Dave, or Dave who hates to waste beer money on a new cheap fan)

a light turbine oil will work but maybe not any better....can you post a brand name and a model # of the fan...maybe able to get new bushings from manufacturer.
